About us

Rural ConneXtion Foundation (RCF) is a registered not for profit development organization that works towards integrated sustainable development of underprivileged people through a holistic approach.

Rural ConneXtion Foundation works together with the people as partners in finding solutions and creating the conditions to improve their living standards, and to achieve people’s aspirations towards a just and humanized life for individuals, families and their communities.

Why

India is a vast country with over 1.2 billion inhabitants. It is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. And in spite of the right to education for all children from 5 to 14 years, India has the largest number of children in the world that do not go to school. According to statistics from UNICEF India at least 35 million children in this age group do not attend school. They grow up in rural areas or in slums in the cities.

According to the United Nations, 170 million people live in slums across India. The living condition of families in the slums is very poor. Parents usually work as daily laborers. Children often assist their parents with low paid jobs like garbage picking. Children receive inadequate and little nutritious food. There is no access to proper sanitation. And children have poor resistance and are often sick.

Rural ConneXtion Foundation (RCF) is a registered not for profit organization that works towards integrated sustainable development of underprivileged people in slums and rural parts of India through a holistic approach.
We started RCF to create a world with better education, where people have an income that provides more than the basic needs, where people are healthy and where children are taught to be moral beings that are equal to each other. We aim to create structural change, so that people can sustain themself and live their life in dignity.

How

At RCF, we work together with the people as partners in finding solutions and creating the conditions to improve their living standards, and to achieve people’s aspirations towards a just and humanized life for individuals, families and their communities. We do this through integrated sustainable development, where the focus is not solely on education for children, but on empowering complete communities.
Three key words in our approach are Empowerment, Inclusiveness and ConneXtion. We empower the people to empower their communities. This approach is inclusive to every member of the community, so that no one is being left behind. And, even as our different programs are very much connected, we also encourage the people to connect with each other.
Next to this, we work on a ‘low cost/no cost’ basis, which means that we will always strive for the highest output at the lowest cost.

What

Education is key to development, so we teach children, youth and women. We also work towards sustainable economic development of men and women, and we run programs that aim to enhance living and health conditions of the slum communities. To realize this, we have a number of programs that touch upon all aspects: Education, Food, Women Empowerment, Health and Hygiene, and Skill and Economic Development.

Through our holistic approach complete communities will be uplifted and become independent.
